Partnerships
with NHHI
NHHI has enjoyed
partnerships over the years that have benefited
our purpose to develop and or stimulate the
development of barrier free affordable housing
for low income persons with physical challenges
and/or seniors.
Primary
financing for most of NHHI's developments has
come from or, has been insured by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD)
The Cities of,
Bloomington, Champlin, Hopkins, New Brighton,
Robbinsdale, St. Paul, and Mankato,
Minnesota were all major contributors to
buildings in those communities. Assistance was
provided primarily in the form of financial
assistance in the land acquisition
phase.
Hennepin
County has provided grant funds for project
development costs on three of our
buildings.
The Minnesota
Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) has provided
significant 'gap' financing for several
buildings. MHFA has also provided preservation
loans to make improvements and replace capital
equipment in one of our older
buildings.
The Greater
Minneapolis Metropolitan Housing Corporation
(GMMHC) has also provided 'gap' financing
for several of our developments.
Accessible
Space Incorporated (ASI) has been a long
time partner in several developments around the
United States. ASI and NHHI have partnered on
the development of just under 30 projects in
Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, California,
Idaho, Nevada, and Washington.
The LaSalle
Group has been a long term partner of NHHI
as well. Three buildings jointly developed with
LaSalle and owner Petri Development were
early efforts that helped form the foundation of
what NHHI was to become; that is an owner,
developer and management corporation providing
valuable housing alternatives for low income
persons with special needs. A fourth project in
Macomb, Illinois is a co-venture with LaSalle
and includes 100 units of two and three bedroom
units for low income families.
NHHI has also
enjoyed professional relationships with local
architectural firms; In-Site Architects;
Miller, Hanson, Westerbeck & Bell;
Hammel, Green & Abrahamson; Jack Bowersox,
Design thru Research; Ackerberg and
Associates among others.
NHHI has worked
locally with many general contractors over the
years most notably; Frana Companies, Benson
Orth, Weis Builders & Brutger Companies
among others.
