SENIOR HOUSING

The Meadows

The Meadows is a 50 unit apartment building designed specifically for persons 62 years of age or better.

The Meadows has been designed with the needs of mature adults in mind.  Special features include accessible bathrooms and kitchens that can be adapted to be even more accessible should a resident lose function over time.  No one will have to leave their home in the future due to the building or unit design not accommodating a person’s access needs as they change over time.

This beautiful building is of a ‘prairie design’ with 100% brick exterior, varying roof lines and wall fenestration to add architectural interest.

The grounds feature many mature trees plus added landscaping to compliment the already lush grounds.  There is a pond on-site with a resident planting area and gazebo adjacent.  There is also a front porch and outside patio/terrace area designed to provide social interaction with your neighbors or quiet more pastoral areas for private endeavors.

Inside there is a multi-purpose community room with a fire place, community kitchen and soaring two story ceilings.

You will also find an exercise room equipped with treadmills, recumbent bicycles and weight lifting equipment.

There is a second floor conservatory room designed like a Hawaiian lanai and furnished to provide a sunny room for meetings, card playing or just socializing.

A small library is furnished with built-in bookshelves which are stocked with all the latest titles of mystery novels, historical and period pieces and even some DVD movies.

A laundry room is available on each of three floors for resident convenience.

All apartments are 1 bedrooms and feature built-in appliances, no-step showers, beautiful oak cabinetry, windows designed for easy operation. Fire sprinklers, pantry storage, linen closets, large storage rooms and lever handles are specified for easy use.

The building has a security entry controlled by the resident’s telephone.

Enjoy brilliant sunrises at the tranquil gazebo, enjoy sunsets on the three season porch, socialize in the garden terrace or take casual strolls amongst 100 year old maple trees.

Neighborhood amenities include public transportation, grocery store, drug store, post office, restaurants, churches, library, medical clinic, urgent care clinic, banking, and community colleges.

It is the firm conviction of those involved in this and similar developments that affordable housing is a significant factor in helping seniors realize their full potential and maintain their rightful place as participating and contributing members of the community.  Further, we see seniors as a genuine source of community enrichment.  Their increased freedom and growth stands as a victory in which we all share and which contributes to our community strength and our personal freedom.
